Nigerian singer, Chike, has made startling claims that Apple Music Nigeria’s top songs chart is compromised. In a recent interview on ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ with Bae U Barbie, Chike stated that the top 10 and top 20 charts are often manipulated.
“Your Top 10 and Top 20 on Apple Music is rigged… Not all the time, to be fair, but most times,” Chike said.
Chike explained that artists can artificially boost their streaming numbers by paying for promotion, which can propel them to the top of the chart.
“If I want to be top 10 on Apple Music, I can tell my team to spend $30,000, and we will go to top 10. But then it’s not real,” Chike said.
However, Chike clarified that not all chart-topping artists engage in this practice.
