Ololade Ayelabola, a University of Lagos student, has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance walked by a model on a catwalk.

Ayelabola completed an impressive 130.62km catwalk, exceeding her initial target of 120km. She accomplished this by walking 2,058 laps within the UNILAG indoor sports centre over several hours.

The attempt aimed to showcase Nigeria’s creativity and fashion industry to the global stage. Ayelabola stated, “I’m not walking for myself alone. I am walking for many models limited by stereotypes and standards set by rigid systems.”

Her achievement surpasses the previous record held by Roberta Brown and Lorraine McCourt, who walked 114.4km in Dublin, Ireland, in 1983.

The record is subject to verification by Guinness World Records.
