Big Brother Naija reality star, Mercy Eke, has issued an apology after her social media handler sparked controversy by labeling fellow housemate Onyeka a “gold digger.”
The handler’s now-deleted tweet accused Onyeka of being in a relationship with Ozee Mbadiwe solely for his wealth. The post drew swift backlash from fans, prompting Eke to clarify that she did not author the tweet.
In a statement on her social media page, Eke explained that her handler was supposed to post birthday content but instead became entangled in BBNaija drama. Eke emphasized that she had distanced herself from the show and would not engage in such negativity.
“I have left everything BBN behind, for Christ’s sake! I apologize to Team Onyeka because this is so embarrassing coming from my account. It definitely does not represent me or how I feel,” Eke wrote.
Eke’s apology came on her birthday, and she expressed disappointment at having to address the situation.
Onyeka’s supporters appreciated Eke’s prompt apology and clarification, acknowledging her efforts to rectify the situation.
