Nigerian actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has issued a call to action, urging citizens to join a peaceful protest on the first anniversary of singer Mohbad’s death. The protest aims to demand justice and accountability for the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
Mohbad, a former signee of the Marlian record label, died on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances, sparking widespread controversy and speculation on social media. In response, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-man special investigation team to probe his death.
Despite efforts to uncover the truth, the cause of Mohbad’s death remains unknown. An autopsy was conducted, but the results were inconclusive due to the body’s decomposition. The singer’s family, dissatisfied with the outcome, has since demanded an independent autopsy.
Fabiyi’s call for protest is a response to the perceived lack of progress in the case. He has urged Nigerians to attend the next court session of the coroner’s inquest and proposed organizing protests on the anniversary of Mohbad’s death if no tangible progress is made.
