Ikorodu Court Approves Second Autopsy for Late Singer Mohbad Amidst Family’s Dissatisfaction with Initial Findings

1 Min Read

The Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State has authorized the family of the late pop sensation, Mohbad, to proceed with a second autopsy. This decision comes after the family’s open disapproval of the initial autopsy report, which failed to conclusively determine the cause of the artist’s death.

Mohbad, aged 27, passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was interred the subsequent day. The case quickly garnered national attention, prompting demands for a thorough investigation into the singer’s untimely demise. In response to public outcry, Mohbad’s remains were exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy conducted by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

The family, however, found the autopsy’s results unsatisfactory, citing the inability to ascertain the exact cause of death. They have since been advocating for a more detailed toxicology analysis to be included in the coroner’s inquest report.

During a court session on June 26, 2024, the magistrate overseeing the inquest acceded to the family’s request, granting legal clearance for a second, independent autopsy. This move is seen as a step towards providing closure for the family and the singer’s fans, who have been seeking answers since his passing.
