NFVCB Warns Against Unclassified Music Videos and Skits

1 Min Read

The National Films and Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) has issued a stern warning to content creators, emphasizing that releasing music videos, skits, and films without proper classification is illegal.

The NFVCB’s classification system, which assigns age ratings and content advisories, helps families make informed viewing choices and protects children from inappropriate material. Director General Shaibu Husseini announced that the board’s classification requirements now extend to music videos and skits.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Husseini cautioned against the distribution of unclassified content. “It is an offence to distribute or exhibit any film, video content, musical videos, and skits on any platform without NFVCB classification. We are working with security agencies to track and prosecute offenders,” he said.

The board also condemned the promotion and distribution of same-sex content online, reiterating that public exhibition of such material is illegal in Nigeria.
