Popular Nigerian blogger Linda Ikeji has set the record straight on rumors circulating online about her son’s surname.
On Tuesday, Ikeji shared a post featuring her son, Jayce, alongside his cousin Ryan. Some social media users misinterpreted the post, claiming Ikeji had changed her son’s surname from his biological father’s, Sholaye Jeremi.
Taking to her Instagram story, Ikeji swiftly addressed the speculation. “Just to be clear,” she wrote, “I’ve never ever had to change my son’s surname. He’s been an Ikeji right from when he was born!”
The blogger emphasized that her son’s surname has always been hers and will remain so until he reaches adulthood, at which point the decision to change it will be entirely his.
“Where do I have the time or patience to be changing names?” she quipped, concluding the message with a playful jab at her “Junior colleagues,” presumably referring to those who spread the rumor.
