Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has made a shocking revelation about his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s polygamous lifestyle, stating that it almost killed him.
In a recent interview on the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ podcast, Seun Kuti disclosed that Fela’s numerous wives and concubines caused him immense stress, which affected his health. He said, “People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, they don’t know of his over 100 girlfriends that lived with us in the house. The wives and girlfriends almost killed Fela with stress.”
Fela Kuti, the legendary creator of Afrobeat, was known for his unconventional lifestyle, which included his polygamous relationships. He married 27 women in a single ceremony and had numerous concubines, all of whom lived with him at his Kalakuta commune.
