Nigerian singer, Slimcase, has shed light on the mystery surrounding Wizkid’s unreleased collaborations with other artists. In a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos, Slimcase revealed that Wizkid has a meticulous approach to releasing collaborative tracks.
According to Slimcase, Wizkid allows artists creative freedom during recording sessions. However, the Grammy winner reportedly subjects the songs to intense scrutiny afterwards, listening to them “like 50 times” before deciding their fate.Slimcase suggests this high standard might be the reason why many collaborations with Wizkid never see the light of day.
This revelation comes on the heels of recent comments by singer BNXN, who publicly criticized Wizkid for holding onto collaborations with young artists without releasing them.
Slimcase himself collaborated with Wizkid on the 2018 song “Gucci Snake.” While it’s unclear if his comments stem from personal experience, they do raise questions about the number of unreleased collaborations potentially sitting in Wizkid’s vault.
Will fans ever get to hear these unreleased tracks? Only time – and perhaps another 50 listens from Wizkid – will tell.
