Nollywood actress Dorcas Shola Fapson, known popularly as Ms. DSF, has shared a hurtful experience of being rejected by a potential romantic partner due to her upbringing in a single-parent household.
During an appearance on the latest episode of the “Bahd and Boujee” podcast, co-hosted by reality TV star Tolanibaj and actress Moet Abebe, Ms. DSF recounted the shocking incident.
“The most bizarre thing someone ever said to me was when a guy told me he couldn’t date me after I revealed I lost my mom as a child,” Ms. DSF said. “He specifically stated he couldn’t be with someone who wasn’t raised in a ‘two-parent household.'”
Clearly upset by the memory, Ms. DSF questioned the logic behind the rejection. “Could I have prevented my mom from passing away? Was it my fault?” she expressed.
Her experience resonated with co-host Moet Abebe, who revealed a similar encounter. “I can relate completely,” Abebe shared. “Someone once told me the same thing. In his case, he was also raised by a single parent and didn’t want to be with someone who had a similar background for their potential children. It wasn’t a logical excuse in my opinion.”
