Renowned musician David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has stirred controversy with his recent assertion that his family plays a significant role in distributing electricity across a substantial portion of Nigeria.
During an appearance on the American podcast ‘Business Untitled,’ Davido discussed his family’s business ventures and personal investments, shedding light on their involvement in the energy sector.
Asserting their ownership of four power plants, Davido emphasized their substantial contribution to Nigeria’s energy landscape. He remarked, “We distribute energy to most of Nigeria,” while also mentioning his foray into cryptocurrency and plans for his wife’s culinary venture.
However, Davido’s claims have drawn skepticism, with many questioning the extent of his family’s influence in Nigeria’s energy sector. It’s worth noting that the majority of the country’s major thermal and hydropower facilities are government-owned, casting doubt on Davido’s assertion.
