Grammy-winning singer Ed Sheeran is shedding light on the creative process behind some of his biggest hits. In a recent interview with Hits Radio, Sheeran revealed surprising details about the inspiration for his chart-topping song, “Shape of You.”
According to Sheeran, Barbadian pop icon Rihanna played a key role in the creation of “Shape of You.” He describes Rihanna as “genre-less” and a “grail for songwriters,” highlighting her versatility and influence. Sheeran initially envisioned the song performed by Rihanna, showcasing his admiration for her artistry.
“Shape of You,” released in 2017, became a global phenomenon, topping charts worldwide and securing a Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance.
Sheeran also opened up about his songwriting experience for Justin Bieber. He revealed that the massive hit “Love Yourself” was initially rejected by numerous artists before finding its perfect home with Bieber.
