As part of efforts to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day, grassroots mobiliser and philanthropist par excellence, Hon. Fateema Mohammed, kicked off a two-week free intensive physical training on fabric stoning, embellishment, and wig making for residents of Ifako-Ijaiye LG.
The training, which started on Monday, February 26, and will end on March 8, is being held at the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Auditorium.
The wig training will include closure and frontal wigging; glue application; frontal installation/styling; frontal pontal; lace bleaching/tint; baby replacement; wig revamping; curling techniques, and styling methods, amongst others.
The two-week training is in collaboration with Hauwa’s Stitches and Needles and Hairby_Izrael.
Speaking during the kick-off on Monday, Hon. Fateema, who recently bagged the “Woman Of The Year Award” at the Ifako-Ijaiye 2023 Community Awards organized by Ifako Ijaiye Youth Development Initiative, said she remains committed to the development of the people in Ifako-Ijaiye, especially women’s empowerment.
“When we empower women, we empower the nation. But we won’t be stopping with women alone. Our women, youths, and everybody need to be empowered, and that is what FAMO is all about – contributing positively to the community. By the grace of God, we will continue to make a lasting impact on Ifako-Ijaiye and beyond,” she said.
She also called on the trainees to maximise the opportunity in improving or acquiring new skills at not cost.
Some of the participants commended Hon. Fateema for the initiative, highlighting its potential for significant impact on their businesses
