Daddy Freeze Sounds Alarm on Looming Famine, Urges Return to Farming Amid Naira Depreciation

2 Min Read

Controversial Nigerian media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has sounded a warning about the impending threat of famine in the country, attributing it to the continuous depreciation of the Naira. Freeze emphasized that Nigeria must increase its export of commodities to earn hard currencies and halt the decline of the national currency.

In a video message shared on his social media page, Daddy Freeze urged Nigerians earning meager wages in urban areas to consider returning to their villages and engaging in farming as a means to combat the looming food crisis.

We will continue to see the decline in our currency because we are not selling anything and getting hard currencies in return. That needs to be fixed by two sets of people: the government and the citizenry,” he stated.

The media personality stressed the urgency of the situation, expressing concerns about the insufficient food supply in the country. He advised individuals earning low wages in urban areas, suggesting that they venture into farming in their villages to contribute to agricultural production.

Addressing specific communities, Daddy Freeze urged those building mansions in villages, particularly his Igbo brothers and sisters, to consider allocating resources to the establishment of factories instead. He highlighted the importance of creating businesses with export targets to boost the nation’s economic resilience.

You need to build more factories, and the government needs to support you. The government needs to do whatever it takes so that your businesses can succeed,” Freeze urged, emphasizing the significance of government support for local manufacturers.
