President Bola Tinubu has lauded the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their resilient and commendable performance in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Côte d’Ivoire, despite their 2-1 defeat to the host nation, the Elephants of Ivory Coast.
In a statement signed by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Tinubu praised the team, coaching staff, crew, and management for their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice throughout the tournament.
The President acknowledged the hurdles the Super Eagles consistently overcame, showcasing an improving performance that led them to the finals.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to be optimistic, adding that the nation achieved a significant victory in the hearts of Africa and the global community through their grit, determination, and commendable performance on the field.
Despite the loss, President Tinubu encouraged Nigerians not to be demoralised but to come together and work harder.
He reminded the nation of its resilience, unity, and shared identity represented by the green-white-green banner.
The President extended words of encouragement to Nigerian youths, especially those expressing their talents in various communities, emphasising that they could be heroes in the future.
Tinubu reassured the youth that his administration is committed to making dreams come true, urging them not to relent in their pursuits.
