Why YPP Sacked 7 State Chairmen

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has sacked seven of its state chairmen after initial suspension for various offences bordering on gross misconduct, anti-party and abuse of office.

Udoka’s appointment was contained in the communiqué of the 24th National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the YPP on Thursday in Abuja and signed by its national publicity secretary, Egbeola Wale Martins.

Those sacked include Prince Harry Omangiman in Rivers, Hough Gwadue in Benue, Remi Ayanlade in Osun, Victor Diala in Imo, Prince Stanley Oyibe in Ebonyi, Sunny Pere Agadabiri in Bayelsa and Francis Nwanua in Delta.

Similarly, the party also appointed Wisdom Udoka, the deputy state chairman, as the interim chairman for the party in Akwa Ibom State.

This followed the resignation of the former chairperson, Pastor Nyeneime Andy as the YPP chairperson in Akwa Ibom in January, alongside the party governorship candidate, Bassey Albert, after both announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that the Akwa-Ibom State chapter of the YPP said it had collapsed its structure with that of the APC, when its governorship candidate, deputy governorship candidate, State Executive Committee led by its former chairman and others visited the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

However, the party’s national spokesman in a swift reaction, said that the party did not collapse its structures into the APC in Akwa Ibom State.

“The NWC after mediating in the leadership imbroglio in Abia State affirmed its initial position that Mr Uluocha Nelcinn remains the Chairman of the Abia State Chapter of the Young Progressives Party, however has been fined for his indiscretion and mandated to tender a letter of apology to Comrade Uzodinma Nwoko and the NWC respectively.

“Similarly, the erstwhile State Secretary, Comrade Uzodinma Nwoko was offered the opportunity of reinstatement after his resignation upon condition that the ongoing litigation against the State Chairman, Mr Uluocha Nelcinn is discontinued and the proposed pathway to sustainable peace offered by the NWC fully embraced,” the party said.
