Renowned Nollywood actress, Jaiye Kuti, has opened up about the often concealed challenges that many women encounter in their marriages. In a recent revealing interview, the actress disclosed that a staggering 85% of women in marriages desire to exit the union, shedding light on the complexities of marital life.
Jaiye Kuti attributed this high percentage to the cultural disparities that arise in marriages, making them increasingly unbearable for many couples. Delving into the nuances of marital dynamics, the actress emphasized that couples often discover previously unseen aspects of their partners during marriage, aspects that were not apparent during the dating phase.
Drawing from her personal experiences, Jaiye Kuti shared that she attempted to exit her marriage on three separate occasions but found herself compelled to remain within the union. The actress shed light on the challenges faced when marrying someone from a different cultural background, highlighting how individuals reveal their true selves over time.
“In my case, I tried to leave thrice. The problem is that when you marry someone from a different culture, people start to reveal their actual selves. A man would treat and pamper a woman when he wanted to get married, but when a second marriage and kids are involved, things go too far. Men can also have egotistical tendencies and are unstoppable when it comes to cheating,” Jaiye Kuti expressed, offering a glimpse into the struggles that led to her contemplation of leaving her marriage.
