Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, and American record producer, ATL Jacob, have found themselves embroiled in a heated social media feud, stemming from disagreements over the clearance of a song sample.
The controversy ignited when ATL Jacob made claims on a recent podcast, asserting that Tems initially resisted approving her sample on Future’s track ‘Wait For U,’ which also featured Drake. According to ATL Jacob, Future had to intervene and use his relationship with Tems to persuade her to greenlight the sample.
These statements sparked a wave of backlash on social media, with Tems and her manager swiftly refuting the producer’s version of events. The tension escalated as ATL Jacob responded to the criticism, revealing that he had received a $100,000 wire transfer for Tems and her team. His statement only fueled the online dispute further.
In a direct response, Tems took to social media platform X to offer ATL Jacob a staggering $1 million to stop “telling lies.” The singer emphasized that her concern was not about negativity but rather the spreading of false information.
