Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar being buried

Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has lamented the killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar by bandits who abducted her alongside five of her sisters and their father in Abuja on January 9.

Atiku spoke through a Facebook post while reacting to the news of her killing.

It was learnt that Nabeeha was the oldest of the six sisters abducted on Tuesday night in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

However, the kidnappers later released their father, Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, asking him to go get N60m as ransom for the release of her daughters before Friday, January 12.

Nabeeha, a 400-level student of biological science at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State, was killed on Friday.

She was laid to rest according to Islamic rites on Saturday.

Reacting, Atiku said, ⁩”I am saddened by reports of the brutal murder of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, who was abducted with her siblings and has been in the custody of their abductors for almost two weeks.

“This is yet another reminder that kidnappers and bandits are operating unhindered in our country.

“The security architecture needs to be rejigged to the extent that it stems the free rein of criminal elements and guarantees the safety of lives and property.

“The security agencies should step up action to rescue the rest who are still in the custody of the kidnappers.

“I pray Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort the family.”
