A pastor of the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN), Luka Levong, church treasurer, Maina Abdullahi, and 12 other villagers have been reported killed by Boko Haram terrorists who attacked Geidam in Yobe State in the early hours of Friday, January 5.

The terrorists were said to have launched an attack on the community, located about 40 kilometres away from Nigeria/Niger Republic border, around 2 am.

Residents who spoke to Channels Television confirmed the attack.

“14 people were killed in Geidam this morning, many houses and the church were burnt,” an eyewitness told the media.

Corpses have been evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Geidam, the witness said.

Geidam is a hotbed of the Boko Haram insurgency, with no fewer than 150,000 residents displaced in the town.

In November 2023, Boko Haram militants killed at least 37 villagers in Gurokayeya village near Geidam.
