Newcastle’s 4 – 0 defeat to Southampton has increased pressure on boss Alan Pardew, who’s side now sits at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Rumours have surfaced about the possibility of Pardew being sacked and replaced by Hull City manager Steve Bruce.
Bruce waved off these claims saying it’s “disrespectful” to be linked with replacing Alan Pardew.
“I find it very disrespectful that I am linked with somebody else’s job when he is still in the job,” Bruce told BBC Radio 5 live’s Sportsweek programme.
“I am just concentrating on our game against West Ham on Monday.”
The 53-year-old took over Hull City job in 2012 after he was sacked by Sunderland in 2011, two years after joining the Black Cats. Relating his situation then to Pardew’s, Bruce showed concern.
“I’m like any other manager, when I see another manager under huge pressure like Alan is – and it was only a few years ago I was in the same sort of situation – it isn’t nice,” said Bruce.
“After what happened to me at Sunderland I know how difficult the north east is,” he added.
