Former Manager Reveals Reason For Mr Ibu’s Leg Amputation

2 Min Read

Emeka Chochoo, the former manager of renowned Nigerian actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has shed light on the recent amputation of one of the actor’s legs. According to Chochoo, the drastic measure became necessary due to a severe infection of the arteries at the ankle, which unfortunately went undetected in its early stages.

Speaking about Mr Ibu’s health, Chochoo revealed, “I was with him up until yesterday. I worked as Mr Ibu’s manager for over a decade. He is responding well to treatment; he is gradually healing.” Despite the challenges, the actor is reportedly on the road to recovery, having undergone seven successful surgeries.

Providing insight into the medical journey, Chochoo explained that doctors have been addressing multiple health issues. The amputation decision was made in response to an infection affecting one of the arteries at the ankle, a condition that went unnoticed until it reached a critical stage. The delay in detection led to the unfortunate necessity of amputating the leg.

The doctors are treating everything one after the other. What led to the amputation of one of his legs was an infection that affected one of the arteries at the ankle. Blood wasn’t flowing into the leg, which was not detected on time. When it was, it had become too late, causing the doctors to decide on the amputation,” Chochoo explained.

Despite the surgery being conducted in Nigeria, Chochoo disclosed that plans are underway to fly Mr Ibu abroad for further treatment. The actor’s current focus is on recovery and receiving the necessary care in Nigeria before seeking additional medical assistance overseas.

The surgery was done in Nigeria. He will soon be flown out of the country for further treatment but for now, he is being cared for in Nigeria,” Chochoo confirmed.
