The Ogun State Police Command has again arrested the impeached Chairman of Ijebu-East Local Government, Wale Adedayo, who accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of diverting local government funds.
Adedayo announced his arrest in a Facebook post.
He said the police claimed that his arrest was due to a petition written against him by the state government.
The ex-Council Chairman said he was prepared to die for the sake of truth.
“Son of man is being taken to Ogun State Police CID at Eleweran, Abeokuta. They claim the State Government wrote a petition against me. If it is death, I follow the path of the Patriarchs. Ase di owo Olodumare! (Only God has power.)” Adedayo wrote.
The Legislative Arm of Ijebu-East LGA ousted Adedayo from office after he wrote a letter to former Governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing Governor Dapo Abiodun of diverting council funds.
He was earlier detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) after another petition was written against him by the state government.
Governor Abiodun had said that Adedayo lied against him, tried to defame him, and attempted to incite the public against his government.
He promised that the ex-Chairman would answer for all the allegations one after the other.
