Veteran comedian and actor, Akunyota Akpobome, widely known as Alibaba, has issued a stern warning to aspiring musicians, cautioning them against compromising their values for success within the music industry.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Alibaba expressed concern over a growing trend where aspiring artists resort to occult practices in their pursuit of getting signed by record labels. He highlighted the intense pressure to attain success that has driven some artists to forsake their core values.
He emphasized the need for artists to firmly define their purpose and uphold the strong values instilled in them throughout their upbringing. Alibaba urged artists not to succumb to pressure that might lead them to engage in compromising activities, emphasizing that creativity should not be coerced through rituals or oaths.
According to Alibaba, artists possess unique creative abilities and should stand strong without allowing external pressures to influence their choices. He lamented how aspiring artists often compromise their principles in their desire for recognition, fame, and financial gains.
Alibaba also praised certain artists who maintain their values and succeed in the entertainment industry despite the pressures to conform. He highlighted their refusal to engage in activities that contradict their beliefs, like smoking or consuming alcohol, even if it is suggested to enhance their image in music videos.
