The artist, recognized for his hit track “Joha,” shared in the Autumn 2023 edition of Pause Magazine that the inspiration behind his stage name stems from being addressed as “Omo Asake” by individuals within the cultural group he was a part of. This phrase translates to “child of Asake” in Yoruba, a Nigerian dialect.

Asake elaborated on how this moniker became deeply ingrained in his identity and eventually became his stage name. Initially tagged “Omo Asake” within the cultural community, the prefix “Omo” meaning “child of,” gradually faded, leaving the name “Asake” to stand alone. Embracing the simplicity and resonance of the name, the artist decided to adopt it as his professional alias.

In the interview, Asake expressed the importance of this name to him, attributing much of his success in the music industry to its significance.
