The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has confirmed the suspension of its planned strike following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu and the Senate.
The resolution to suspend the strike followed the National Executive Council meeting of the NLC.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu held an emergency meeting with labour leaders on Wednesday, same day that the organised labour commenced their protest across the country.
“Protest suspended due to the Senate intervention and meeting with President Tinubu yesternight,” National Treasurer of NLC, Hakeem Ambali said.
During the protest in Abuja, protesters pulled down the gates of the National Assembly and gained access to the premises in a bid to meet with the lawmakers.
