Veteran musician, Friday Igwe aka Baba Fryo says there is no love in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
According to him, well-to-do entertainers do not help their older colleagues, even when the latter share their problems on social media.
“Entertainers don’t help their colleagues. Even if they (colleagues) post their problems on social media, entertainers do not respond. There is no love in the entertainment business, whether in movies, music or other sectors. They believe in ‘I better pass you.’ When some of them see one complain, it makes them happy. We must show love in order to grow,” Baba Fryo told The Punch.
Recalling how he overcame depression in October 2020 when his son was ill, the singer said, “I tackled it the way I could. I still had fans who love me, and they supported me. I found victory at last.”
The singer said that many songs being produced in the country’s music industry lack messages.
“Some veteran artistes don’t have the courage to sing (the truth) anymore. Songs nowadays don’t address reality in their messages. The youth have their own kind of music, and the adults have theirs as well. I still sing my kind of music because I am courageous,” he said.
