IPOB threat: Police, DSS storm arrested Eze Ndigbo’s palace in Lagos for evidence

Nwajagu

Heavily-armed security agents comprising police and personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) stormed the residence of embattled Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate, Fred Nwajagu, on Monday.

It was the second time security personnel would visit the residence, the first being to arrest Nwajagu, after the emergence of a 49-second video shared on Twitter in which he threatened to invite members of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to secure properties of Igbo people in Lagos.

The Eze Ndigbo had fled his residence but was arrested in a hotel nearby.

Nwajagu was said to have been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, since Friday, amid reports that the police were planning to transfer him to Abuja.

According to witnesses, DSS personnel and detectives from SCID returned to Nwajagu’s home in two white pickups Hilux vans for a search with the suspect in handcuffs.

The contingent was said to have searched the property for over four hours before returning to the SCID Panti.

Vanguard reported, quoting unnamed witnesses to the search, that the security personnel left without any incriminating evidence against Nwajagu.

Investigations are expected to continue while the suspect remains in detention at the SCID, Panti  to ascertain whether his threat was real, deeply founded or a fluke, it was learnt.
