A 16-year-old girl has been arrested for allegedly pushing a 52-year-old woman, Medinat Aliu, to death in Isolo, Akure area of Ondo State.
It was learnt that the incident occurred during a scuffle between the suspect and victim over a well.
The duo was said to be at the well to fetch water when the suspect told Aliu to shift away because she was not covering her hair.
This, it was learnt, caused an argument that degenerated into a scuffle during which the 16-year-old girl pushed the victim to the ground, resulting in her death.
“The issue began when the suspect was fetching water from the well in the area after she had earlier taken her bath. The deceased observed that the suspect did not cover her hair and she told her to cover the hair.
“That was what led to the altercation. As the deceased tried to move the suspect away from the well, the suspect pushed Aliu and she fell and died later,” a source said.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the incident.
She said that case has been transferred to State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) for further investigation.
