Five-time Ballon D’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo set tongues wagging after he was spotted training at Real Madrid Sports City in Valdebebas.
Ronaldo recently returned to Europe, after Portugal’s ouster in the quarter-finals of the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.
Shortly before the commencement of the Mundial, his contract at Manchester United had been terminated by mutual consent.
Despite strong interest, the 37-year-old has shown a lack of willingness to play in the Middle East, shrugging off a big-money approach from Saudi club, Al Nassr.
The clubless star’s presence at Real Madrid’s training facility set off insinuations that he could be returning to the Spanish capital, where he plied his trade for 10 seasons, clinching four UEFA Champions League titles.
However, AS reported that Ronaldo requested the use of the facility to tune up for the winter transfer market, and the request was granted by club president Florentino Perez.
