“Thank God not your gaolers” – Shehu Sani knocks Aisha Buhari’s critic

2 Min Read

Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has knocked university student, Aminu Muhammad, for thanking First Lady Aisha after his release.

Recall that Muhammad was recently arrested, allegedly brutalised and arraigned in court for criticising the First Lady back in June 2022.

The case has since been withdrawn and the young man freed following outcry from Nigerians.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Muhammad appreciated all those that intervened in his ordeal, including the National Union of Nigerian Students (NANS).

He also apologised to the First Lady for causing her embarrassment.

“I would like to use this medium to express my sincere apologies to those I’ve hurt especially our mother, Aisha Buhari.

“It was never my intention to hurt your feelings and insha Allah I will change for the better.

“However, I’m also grateful for your forgiveness, thank u mama,” he tweeted.

Since Muhammad’s tweet, many Nigerians have been divided on the propriety of the apology.

Reacting, Sani said that the apology was unnecessary.

“Whatever good may have come to Aminu is an afterthought.

“The intention was to humiliate him & send a clear message to other young SM (social media) critics.

“If Rights Groups & the Social Media hasn’t risen in his defence, he could have rotten in jail.

“The boy should thank his God & not his gaolers,” he said.
