Man burns over $50k Balenciaga merchandise over ‘pedophilic’ adverts

2 Min Read

YouTuber, Omi in a Hellcat has set more than $50,000 worth of Balenciaga merchandise ablaze following the controversy generated by the fashion company’s advertisement showcasing children with sex dolls.

Recall that Balenciaga withdrew the ad featuring children with sexualized teddy bears after some keen social media commentators tagged it “pedophilic”.

The company also issued an apology for the ads, which show two young girls posing with teddy bears that appear to be wearing BDSM-style harnesses.

In one photo, one of the girls posed on a pink-coloured bed clutching one of the plush bear bags, surrounded by other purses and accessories that include what appears to be a chain leash as well as a Balenciaga branded dog collar choker.

In its apology, Balenciaga said it was taking the matter very seriously and initiating legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items in the ad campaign.

However, the company’s apology appeared to have fallen on the deaf ears of one of its customers, who made a video of himself burning their wares in his collection.

In the video, the YouTuber, who describes himself as the “biggest Balenciaga fan”, can be heard saying he is burning his shoes and cloths bought from the company instead of giving them away because anyone wearing them is representing “pedophilia”.

“Don’t come near my kids every again,” he added.
