2023: Wike reveals how he’ll support Peter Obi’s campaign

2 Min Read

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has pledged to support the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi’s campaign in Rivers State with logistics.

Wike made the pledge on Thursday during the inauguration of the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover in Port-Harcourt by Obi, whom he invited to inaugurate the project.

He urged Obi to inform him of any planned campaign in Rivers, promising to provide every logistical support to make the campaign successful.

The Rivers governor stated that the LP candidate has all the characteristics to lead Nigeria.

“Each time you want to campaign in the state, let me know, all the logistics support, we will give to you.

“I know you as a person, you have all the criteria, you have all the characteristics to lead this country, you have it. Nobody can deny that,” Wike said.

Wike explained that Obi’s ambition to vie for the 2023 presidential election would have been truncated if he remained in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that Wike and four other PDP governors known as the G-5 have been at loggerheads with the national leadership of the PDP, with their major demand being the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

Wike has maintained that Ayu, who should be neutral, provided material support to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to emerge PDP’s presidential candidate.

Wike was runner-up to Atiku in the race for the PDP’s 2023 presidential ticket.

“If you had not left (the PDP), you would not have realised your ambition to be able to save Nigeria,” Wike told Obi at Thursday’s inauguration.
