The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, says a probe into her genetic heritage has revealed that she is 43 percent Nigerian.
She made the disclosure in the latest episode of her podcast, Archetypes, as reported by Mirror.
In the episode, she interacted with American actress Issa Rae, Nigerian-American writer Ziwe Fumudoh, and Professor Emily Bernards.
She said she took a genealogy test which confirmed her Nigerian heritage.
Markle, who is American, said she would continue to dig to find out more about her roots.
Asked to give insight into her test result, she said, “I just had my genealogy done a couple of years ago. I’m 43% Nigerian.”
An excited Ziwe asked, “Are you serious? This is huge. Igbo, Yoruba, do we know?”
Responding, the Duchess said, “I’m going to start to dig deeper into all of this because anyone that I’ve told, especially Nigerian women, are just like, what?”
