Flooding: Don’t abandon Anambra to play politics in Benue – Okowa’s aide knocks Peter Obi

Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, says presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has abandoned the dire situation in his native Anambra to play politics with flood victims in Benue State.

Ossai said this in a Facebook post on Thursday while reacting to Obi’s call on his PDP and APC counterparts, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and others to suspend their campaigns and join him to help victims of floods across states of the federation.

Some of the worst-hit states are Kogi, Benue, Ebonyi, Anambra, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Imo, Abia, Edo, Delta, Kogi, Niger, Plateau and parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

On Wednesday, Obi visited the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom to commiserate with him over the flooding in the state.

After the Ortom visit, the LP candidate announced he was suspending his campaign activities over the floods ravaging many parts of the country.

Reacting, Ossai said Obi “abandoned Anambra state that is being flooded to go to Benue state to play politics with flood victims.”

He said Obi was not ready for campaign due to the confusion in his party but hid under the pretext of commiserating with flood victims to call on others to halt their campaigns.

“It’s annoying seeing him asking Atiku Abubakar, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stop campaigns as a result of flooding.

“He quickly rushed to Benue state to see flood victims when his state Anambra is being flooded.

“You can’t visit your home and you are visiting another man’s home.

“He should come to Anambra to see his people who are suffering as a result of flood and not going to Benue state to play politics.

“Peter Obi should tell us he is not ready for campaigns due to the confusion in Labour Party instead of brainwashing Nigerians against political parties campaigning.

“Asking Atiku, Tinubu to stop campaigns is uncalled for.

“Despite the campaigns, candidates can still support flood victims by visiting them and distributing relief materials.

“There is a stipulated time for campaigns and political parties are not acting against the law.

“Even Harrison Gwamnishu that is contesting for House of Assembly has visited communities affected by flood in his local government in Aniocha but his principal Mr. Peter Obi is busy telling lies,” Ossai said.
