“PDP’s problem is hypocrisy” – Keyamo reacts as Ayu claims Atiku advised N1bn loan from bank

The Official Spokesperson of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo SAN has reacted to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu’s claim that the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar asked him to borrow N1 billion in 2021.

Recall that Ayu made the revelation shortly after a meeting of the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) on Friday.

He spoke while reacting to some claims by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who has demanded his resignation.

Wike, who said the party boss was “very corrupt”, claimed a presidential aspirant gave Ayu N1 billion in Lagos.

He added that a sitting governor also gave Ayu N100 million.

However, Ayu explained that after his emergence as the party chairman, Atiku advised him to borrow N1 billion from a bank due to lack of funds to run the party.

He said the suggestion was deliberated and rejected, noting that he did not collect N1 billion from anyone.

Reacting in a Saturday tweet via his verified handle, Keyamo said that Ayu’s revelation showed the main opposition party’s “hypocrisy”.

The APC campaign spokesman said it was hypocritical of the PDP to go for a N1 billion loan when it always condemned the current administration’s borrowing.

“Nigerians should see the same party that complain about the fact that we borrow in some cases to fund infrastructure.

“They have not even won an election, they are suggesting taking loans to run their party!

“The problem with the PDP is their hypocrisy that stinks to high heavens,” Keyamo wrote.
