Nigerians on Twitter have been reacting to Senior Prophet of CCC Genesis Global parish, Israel Oladele Ogundipe’s declaration of support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
In a video that went viral, Prophet Oladele said he has no regret for backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
“I support Tinubu, you like it or not, I don’t care. You know me, I am not afraid. You know why? Because if I see another Yoruba person I will support. That is the only Yoruba person I am seeing.
“Hear me, journalist, if you want to write, write. If you want to attack me, attack me. I am not a bastard.
“I cannot be a Yoruba boy and go and vote for Igbo. I don’t care, I am not afraid. I have not eaten from Tinubu’s money. I am not asking him for money. And I will never ask him for money. I don’t need his help. God is my helper…,” he said.
Many Nigerians on Twitter have expressed divergent reactions to the prophet’s comment.

The tribalism displayed in that video by the Yoruba preacher endorsing Tinubu has already been displayed in many churches in the South East where pastors have openly endorsed Peter Obi asking congregants to vote & support him on the basis of his tribe and because he’s their own.

Dear Nigerians, If your religious leader is asking you to abandon all the qualities of a good leader and vote for the next President of this Nation just because you are from the same tribe as the candidate, then there is serious fire on the mountain. RUN!!
Vote Wisely 🙏🏾

Every tribal comment on that Yoruba preacher’s video endorsing Tinubu has already been over played in many churches in Southern Nigeria. Priests, pastors, and preachers have openly told people to vote & support PO on the basis of tribe because he’s Igbo and Christian. Rest joor.

The Yoruba preacher said and I quote, he’s not a bastard. He won’t see a Yoruba person and vote for an Igbo person. That’s not a regular campaign, that’s bigotry. If an Igbo preacher does it, it is equally condemnable. Gutter behavior.

This is tribal bigotry at its finest. After we are done with him, he will eat his words. Look at what an adult is spewing in 2022, tueh! I heard his name is Oladele, a so called prophet, please what is his true identity, the name of his synagogue, and his social media handles? pic.twitter.com/79t8lThw3w

Pastor chinedu can promote one presidential candidate while Prophet Oladele should be crucified for declaring his support for another.
We can't change a system that is not working with hatred, falsehood and toxicity.
