Tyson Fury challenges Anthony Joshua to ‘Battle of Britain’ in December

2 Min Read

Anthony Joshua answers on Twitter to Tyson Fury’s challenge for a “Battle of Britain,” saying he will be ready to fight in December.

There have been discussions of pairing WBC champion Tyson Fury with Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian who defeated Joshua last month to retain his WBO, WBA, and IBF titles.

However, Usyk won’t be able to box again this year, it has been revealed.

Fury is forced to look for an opponent, hence he wants to square up against former champion, Anthony Joshua.

Fury made a public statement saying, “I think you’ve all heard that I’m going to be fighting soon within the next few months.

“Before I announce an opponent, I need to do this just in case.”

Then addressed Joshua, saying, “Anthony Joshua, I know you just lost a fight to Usyk and you’re bout-less right now, and I’d want to give you an opportunity to fight me for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world and the lineal championship in the next few months.”

“You’re coming off a 12-round fight, so you’re match-fit, you’re ready. I’m giving you a few months’ notice.

“If you’re interested I’ll send you the date over and we can rumble—a battle of Britain for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world. Let me know if you’re interested, if not I will select another opponent.”

On Monday night, Fury reiterated his offer to Joshua through Twitter, saying he had already set the “day” and “location.”

Later that evening, Joshua replied, instructing Fury to contact his management group to work out a deal.
