The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, has resigned from his position.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso said in a Monday statement that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has accepted Salako’s resignation.
He said that the governor accepted Salako’s resignation as a prelude to the restructuring of the ministry and its agencies.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu thanks the Commissioner for his services to the State and wishes him success in his future endeavours.
“The Governor warns all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are,” the statement read in part.

The commissioner’s resignation came barely a day after a seven-storey building under construction collapsed near the Oniru’s palace in Lekki, Lagos.
Two dead bodies were recovered at the site at Palace Estate, Oba Idowu Oniru Street, Lagos on Sunday.
Salako told journalists at the scene on Sunday that the building had been sealed off three times by the state government but the developer did not halt construction.
He added that the developer, whom he refused to name, was “hostile” to the agency’s officials sent to seal the site.
He said that the police would reveal the identity of the developer.
“We have a developer that is hostile and who contravenes the law of the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning, 2019, as amended, and he did not get the necessary planning permit that will allow him to do that, he did not have the prerequisite authorisation to commence construction on the site,” Salako said.
