A former social media aide to President Jonathan, Reno Omokri says the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has turned his 2023 presidential ambition into a money-making venture.
Omokri said this in a tweet on Saturday while reacting to the ticket fees allegedly charged to attend Peter Obi’s ongoing speaking engagements in the United States.
The Herald earlier reported that Peter Obi was in Charlotte in North Carolina, Atlanta in Georgia, Washington DC and would be in Columbia University, New York today to engage the Nigerian diaspora in the United States for his presidential ambition.
Omokri, who is based in the United States, alleged that an ordinary seat costs $250, VIP seat costs $1000, and an Executive seat costs $500 at these Obi’s events.
This newspaper could not immediately verify the claim.
However, Nigeria-born Professor of Journalism and Emerging Media at Kennesaw State University, Georgia, United States, Prof. Farooq Kperogi appeared to confirm the information when he said he would not be attending the Atlanta event due to the cost.
“People have asked if I’ll attend Peter Obi’s townhall meeting with diasporan Nigerians in Atlanta tonight. No, I won’t because it costs at least $250,” he said.
He shared a photo of the poster showing the ticket fees…
Omokri said, “Peter Obi is just a clever man that knows he will not win and wants to use this election to cash out! Look at the prices he is charging. And he says he is for the poor! If you don’t have shishi, stay away!”
