Arsenal have been granted some extra time to complete the signing of striker Danny Welbeck from Manchester United in a £16 million deal on transfer deadline day, according to the Metro.
The Gunners had been trying to put together a deal to sign the England international before the 11pm deadline after agreeing a £16 million fee with their Premier League rivals.
However, with the 11pm cut-off having been and gone, Arsenal are still trying to get the transfer over the line and have now been granted an extension by the authorities, giving them an extra couple of hours to submit the relevant papers.
Arsene Wenger had been keen to add another striker to his ranks following the injury to current first choice hit man Olivier Giroud, who suffered a broken ankle last month.
The deal to bring the United front man brought an end to a successful window for the Gunners that saw them bring in the likes of David Ospina, Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers as their summer signings.
