A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has proffered an explanation for the change in behaviour exhibited by many people after becoming rich.
He gave the explanation in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Omokri, who is also a social media influencer, said that the popular notion that money changes people might be untrue.
He said that money only gives people the confidence to openly reject things they never liked but were hitherto unable to reject because of poverty.
He wrote, “Before saying money changed a man, you may want to check yourself.
“There are things poverty makes a man accept that he would not have accepted if he had money.
“Putting your hand in a toothless lion’s mouth, is not the same as putting it in the mouth of a lion with teeth! Poverty makes a lion toothless. That is why it can’t bite you. Not that it does not want to bite. The truth is that it can’t bite. But the day money comes, that lion will suddenly grow teeth and bite. Money did not change the lion. It just supplied it with teeth!”
