Indian hemp smoker explains reason for stoning own kids to death

Elisha Tari, a 25-year-old father, has been paraded by the Adamawa State Police Command for stoning his own children, aged 3 and 5, to death.

The command had said in a Saturday statement that Tari was arrested on Friday, August 18 for killing his children in Himikidu community of Michika Local Government Area where they live.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the victims’ mother got separated from the suspect two months ago after they had a misunderstanding,” the command spokesman Suleiman Nguroje said in the statement.

While being paraded on Monday, the suspect said he suffered from a psychological problem that caused his being tied up with chains some time ago.

“I smoke Indian hemp, drink alcohol, and inhale snuff. I don’t take tramadol or any other hard drugs,” he confessed.

He explained that he made concerted efforts to bring his wife back home after she moved out over two months ago but was unsuccessful.

Tari said that on the day of the incident, the deceased children approached him while he was cooking and he asked them “When is our mother returning back home?”

He said he was surprised that when he asked the children to say “God”, they said “fire, and kept saying fire, fire, instead of God.”

This, he said, angered him and he picked up stones to hit them.

“I became irritated and provoked by their action as a result which I picked up stones and hit them on their heads to death,” Tari said.
