Atiku vs Tinubu debate: “Stop making useless noise” – Deji Adeyanju tackles PDP

The Convener, Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to “stop making useless noise” over its incessant calls for a presidential debate.

Adeyanju gave the piece of advice in a tweet on Monday.

He was reacting to the PDP’s insistence that the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was mentally unable to withstand an hour-long media interview.

The main opposition party had also said that its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would trounce Tinubu in a debate.

Recall that Atiku had granted a pre-recorded interview to Arise TV which generated controversy between his camp and Tinubu’s after he claimed he rejected Tinubu’s offer to become his vice-presidential candidate in the 2007 presidential election.

In a Saturday statement, Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe said, “‘We would like to challenge Bola Tinubu to subject himself to an hour long interview, like the Waziri did, and if he is able to be as articulate and mentally present as our candidate, then he can talk. Until then, we only want to remind him and his yes men that they are not in a position to point fingers when they have not sat on the hot seat.

“Atiku Abubakar has earned Master’s degree from Anglia Ruskin University. We challenge any of the present Presidential candidates to present an equal or higher degree. Moreover, his university attendance is a matter of verified record. Can we say the same about some other persons?”

Reacting, Adeyanju said that the PDP should know that debates do not determine the outcome of elections in Africa.

He advised the party to strategise to win the 2023 election instead of making noise about debates and media interviews.

“NEWS: PDP challenges APC, Tinubu again to debate.

“ME: I laugh. Does it look like APC or Tinubu is preparing for any debate or vote buying? PDP should stop making useless noise and go prepare for Election Day issues. Elections are not won in Africa through debates & noise,” Adeyanju wrote.
