President Muhammadu Buhari has again been urged to order the release of Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
South-East leaders made the fresh call on Friday in an address during a meeting with Buhari at the Executive Council Chambers, New Government House Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
Kanu is facing terror-related charges before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In January, the president said Kanu would face trial, in spite of appeals from some prominent Igbo stakeholders led by First Republic Aviation Minister, Mbazulike Amaechi.
In the address read by Chairman of South-East Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Charles Mkpuma, the release of Kanu will bring peace to the South-East geopolitical zone.
