Nigerians have taken to Twitter to mourn the death of a young female dental surgeon, Dr Chinelo Megafu who died from bullet wounds sustained when terrorists attacked a train on the Abuja-Kaduna route on Monday evening.
Shortly after the Kaduna-bound train was attacked at about 7:45 pm, Megafu took to the microblogging site to announce that she had been shot, while appealing to Nigerians for their prayers.
See tweet:
I'm in the train . I have been shot please pray for me.

However, the tweet drew varied reasons; while some prayed for her to pull through, others labelled her Save Our Soul (SOS) message as “fake news”.
It soon emerged that Megafu succumbed to the bullet wounds, with many Twitter users circulating photos of her dead body in a pool of blood.
A medical doctor and Twitter influencer, Dr Chinonso Egemba wrote, “Just learnt that Dr Chinelo didn’t make it. This is heartbreaking on so many levels.”
Since the news of her death filtered in, Twitter has been a hotbed of reactions, some of which are highlighted below:
Dr Chinelo was making an honest living, she was working at St Gerald's hospital in Kaduna, she wanted more for herself and processed her papers to leave this hell-hole. She resigned last month to leave the country this Friday then this happened. Nigeria why???💔💔💔

It's the same people who defend this administration that came out to mock a fellow Nigerian who was shot on the train
People who have no conscience, no empathy
Dr Chinelo is dead now, are you happy?
Are your paymasters pleased with you?
Vile, depraved beings! Scum of the earth pic.twitter.com/kBtD6yo0O8

All Chinelo said was "Pray for me." That is all she said. She was then targeted and subjected to abuse by a group of vile and evil creatures. Cos she was shot and asked for prayers so she could survive.
This thing hurt me to my marrows!!!

Those same set of people that attacked the late Chinelo are the same set that attacked and trolled me when the police brutalized me. These are sycophants who are loyal only to their political gods. They care not for this country and have no conscience whatsoever left in them.

I see Chinelo trending. Oke trended. Onifade did. I'm sure Dele Giwa would have trended if there was Twitter back then.
The big question is: What has changed? Absolutely nothing. We need to take proactive actions beyond Twitter rants abeg.
We don't know who is next.

May the soul of Dr Chinelo rest in peace. May God console her family and friends. May everyone who mocked her, played politics with her death or falsely accuse other people of vileness over this issue be eternally disgraced.
