David Hundeyin, Kiki Mordi fight dirty on Twitter

Kiki Mordi and David Hundeyin

Award-winning Nigerian journalists, David Hundeyin and Kiki Mordi are currently engaged in a war of words on Twitter.

It all began as a discussion about horrible bosses and toxic workplace environments on the microblogging site, after tech news platform, Tech Cabal published a controversial article titled: “Tyranny in the workplace: The chaotic culture of Bento Africa”.

Kiki Mordi subsequently co-hosted a Twitter space in which many Nigerians ventilated their grievances about surviving toxic bosses, and naming some along the way.

In a reaction, Hundeyin faulted Mordi for hosting a space discussing horrible bosses without naming Toyosi Ogunseye, whom he presumed to be Mordi’s boss at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Ogunseye is currently head of language services at BBC World Service, having previously served as Head of BBC West Africa.

Mordi is a journalist with BBC, for whom she shot the award-winning “Sex for Grades” documentary.

Hundeyin wrote, “Incidentally, the co-host of the space is the beneficiary of a toxic action by one of the most toxic bosses in the entire Nigerian media space – Toyosi Ogunseye. In fact Toyosi’s theft of other people’s work and subsequent crediting to her is the entire reason she has a career.

“Don’t forget to mention Toyosi Ogunseye and BBC Africa on that Space sha. No dey discuss other people matter come dey use style style hide your own. Cos toxic bosses also has toxic sycophants who enable them, like Madam co-host.

“Cos I instantly knew that is what you people would do. You’d go and set up a platform to control the conversation and prevent it from reaching you and your friends. The devil has no new tricks and you people can never change.”

In a reaction, Mordi noted that she never directly worked under Ogunseye, and accused Hundeyin of attention seeking.

She wrote, “This one is always speaking in fiction 😂

“This woman has never been my boss, I’ve only met her once and I didn’t know she was the one until someone told me. I never reported to her. We’re literally strangers.

“If she’s a bully, call her out but what does this have to do with me?😭

“Is it because they said you should be calling my name when police arrest you? 😭

“Never even worked on a project with her as colleagues, oga, intern, nothing. How can I benefit from a person I neither know nor work for? Are you dumb? 💀”

Mordi however encouraged Hundeyin to call out Ogunseye, noting, “I’ve actually heard so many bad things about her so no jokes, call her out.”
