A newly-licensed financial institution, Lotus Bank, has assumed sponsorship of Ikorodu Football Club (FC) as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Managing Director of Lotus Bank, Kafilat Araoye, announced the sponsorship at the unveiling and jersey presentation on Thursday at the bank headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Represented by Tunde Lawal, Lotus Bank’s Chief Financial Officer, Adeoye said that football brings people together which tallies with the primary objective of the bank.

“We are proud to partner and definitely support the Ikorodu FC.

“We pray and hope the club wins in the forthcoming league.

“We want the club to also represent the bank well,” Adeoye said.

She said officials of the bank would be present at Ikorodu FC first match of the league season which will commence on Friday at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

Speaking at the event, Kayode Badmus, Executive Director of Ikorodu FC, said that the club had existed before but gave away its ticket to MFM FC.

He added that Ikorodu FC aimed to help get troubled kids off the streets and keep youths away from crimes and vices.

“We also notice that Lagos does not have a serious FC team, so we hope with this partnership we could sustain this team.

“The pre-season league has just ended and we were at the tops.

“Also, for the forthcoming league in February we will be playing all our matches at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

“We will be displaying Lotus Bank’s name and logo on our jerseys, website and many other ways that we can help create awareness since it is a new bank,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Lotus Bank got its licence to operate on May 25, 2021 and started operations July 7, 2021.
