The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the second round of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after thrashing Sudan 3-1 on Saturday.
Villareal winger, Samuel Chukwueze had put the Eagles ahead in the third minute of the encounter before Taiwo Awoniyi doubled the lead in the 45th minute.
A Moses Simon effort just after the half-time break cemented what had been a solid performance from the Eagles before Walieldin Khidir scored Sudan’s consolation goal via the penalty spot in the 70th minute.
It was the Eagles’ second victory in Group D, after Austin Eguavoen’s wards clinched a smooth 1-0 victory against the Pharaohs of Egypt on Tuesday.
Their last group match is against Guinea Bissau on January 19.
