Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has said that his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not elevate him above the law or grant him immunity from investigation.
Fani-Kayode stated this in a Facebook post on Wednesday while speaking on his Tuesday ordeal with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren had confirmed on Tuesday that Fani-Kayode was in the commission’s office but did not give further details.
The ex-minister described his reported arrest as “fake news”, noting that he was rather invited by the anti-graft agency.

Fani-Kayode, “I pity those that said I was arrested. They are filled with hate and live on fake news. Since when did an invitation and a friendly chat become an arrest? And even if I had been arrested, SO WHAT? I am not above the law and neither does joining APC give me immunity. My God is MIGHTY!”
Earlier, Fani-Kayode said he had a “friendly chat” with operatives at the EFCC Zonal Office in Lagos for over six hours before being granted bail on self-recognition.
“Just arrived at the George Hotel for dinner. I was never arrested by the EFCC. I was invited & I flew down to Lagos to see them.
“I arrived in their office at 2.00pm & left at 8.30pm. I was granted bail on self recognition. They were very polite & professional. Thanks be to God.”
